Deck: Watt Lock 2023, Anti-Tear
As everyone knows MD has become 90% Tear matchups, with maybe 10% of decks aiming to counter tear. This deck fits the 10% niche.
Going 1st this deck will win around 75%, and going 2nd around 30% vs Tear. That isn’t great, but testing around I’ve found this is about the best you can hope for vs. Tear. Welcome to Tier 0 😔
I have tried around 5-6 versions of WattLock for this format and this has been the best one regarding results. I was able to reach Diamond 1 with this one and struggled much with any other options. It seems gimmicky especially with the Mirror Force lineup, but under Dim Fis / Macro Tear is very weak to battle traps. Cheesy, I know.
The 2nd best option I found was this: https://www.duelingbook.com/deck?id=12950095 But this takes a very differnet "Protect the Watt" appraoch and I found it not as consistent/brickier. I don't like that Honest doesn't trigger the Giraffe/Cobra effect though as they didn't deal direct damage. I also do not like that you have to choose Honest/Maxx C or banish Floodgates. This is why I chose the build I am uploading.

I only have 2 up now, I need to go back and delete a few of my older deck replays to make room for more but will continue to add replays while we suffer through Tear0.
Some of the replays may be of differnet builds I was testing around with, so if you see techs like Maxx C/Honest I was likely somewhere between transitioning to the list in the description and this list.

Same deck as last season... I tried really, really hard to make other fun rogue decks work but just couldnt.
Tear has kind of decimated my spirit of making new interesting decks work.. Maybe next season 😔
I was hoping you would try Ghotis. theres a couple of variants and it has been shown capable of reaching D1.
Interestingly enough I did see a really saucy Myutant Ghoti list recently. Alot of synergy since the Myutants have to tribute + banish from hand for cost and the Ghoti help them recoop that normal -1
Actually I think the most recent replay I posted on my profile was a grind game vs Tear and on like turn 7 I used Gagaga for game lmao. Corn ship also came up several times.
I don't see why not, esp since they banned the Bystials into the ground before they even came out <
I put in the description that I literally cant lol. I dont use the ED almost ever except Gagaga/Corn ship sometimes. Every now and then 41, Zeus, Heartland etc. But I pulled a Royal synchro and wanted to put it in since ED isnt very important :)
