Notes & Combos

• Last season (Season 36) I made it to Master Rank 1 with the Melodious Engine.
• Although Melodious Engine is powerful, the monsters being Fairy type kept bothering me, so for this season (Season 37) I decided to lean harder to the Yubel side. This allowed me to take the opportunity to use the new card that dropped this month: Varudras. Consistency took a hit, so some hands are just plain bad, which was to be expected when playing 60 cards. Overall, the climb was not the easiest with Mulcharmy Fuwalos on top of everything else.
• Few comments for Varudras:
• Varudras the Final Bringer of the End Times: This was the missing omni-negate that the Yubel/Chimera end board needed for the longest. There are multiple level 10s in this deck that special summon themselves or summon a level 10 monster from GY/Deck/hand that provides multiple opportunities to XYZ summon it to the field. If I go uninterrupted or survive enough handtraps, I usually end up with Varudras on my end board pretty consistent.
• Between Chimera hand ripping 1 card and 1 Omni Negate, in theory your opponent is playing with just 4 cards not 6 if you setup your board correctly. Plus if you time it right, you can destroy another card on the field to get a 2 for 1 deal. It has synergy with Diabellze if you choose Varudras as your destroyed target you are allowed to destroy another card in the field so another 2 for 1 deal. On top of all this, you can use it as a regular beat stick to destroy cards on the field when attacking if it has an XYZ material.
• Chimera cards already win games on their end, so having some sort of Omni-Negate just makes it even harder for your opponent to break your board. In "perfect hand" scenarios, I can even have Apollousa on the end board along with Varudras as well, but those opportunities are rare as you need certain cards in your hand already and the constant hand traps are negating something.
