Notes & Combos
- I had to play Blue-Eyes the moment I heard the new support was dropping in Master Duel. Initially I went with a "board breaker"/Magia/Ritual approach, but I found myself wishing I had hand traps often. So, I decided to go "all in" on hand traps to always interact with my opponent and my success rate improved drastically. The ladder climb wasn't exactly easy though as it was infested with Kashtira, Exodia, Stun, Tearlamenets, Snake-Eyes, Fiendsmith, Tenpai, and all variations of them.
- Cards like Mathematician/Kaiser are place holder cards for the Primite engine. On that note I am leaning towards cutting out the entire "Crimson Dragon" package when the Primite engine drops as well. The sheer number of hand traps (i.e. Nibiru) on the ladder doesn't allow you to extend that often. Honestly, I was more surprised when I summoned Crimson Dragon in the first place. I have already experimented without the Crimson Dragon Package and got decent results, so the concept works, just the "end board" felt "lacking" at times.
- After playing with different tech cards, I have settled with this deck list as the one that has given me the best fighting chance and got me high up compared to other flavors. Extra Deck cards were swapped around till I settled with Monsters that I ended up using the most. All the Ghost girls came in clutch and won me duels. Ultimate Creature Trap card caught alot of people by surprise.
- Fundamentally the deck evolved into having "4 Win Conditions":
- Plan A: Stadrust Sifr Divine Dragon/Blue-Eyes Ultimate Spirit Dragon (via Crimson Dragon)
- Plan B: Blue-Eyes White Dragon/Tyrant/Jet/Spirit
- Plan C: Bystials/Etude/Regained
- Plan D: Psychic End Punisher (Break glass in case of emergency)
- All in All, regardless of what approach I took, it is incredible that Blue-Eyes is a "Meta Threat" WITHOUT the Primite engine.
- Fun Fact: You have roughly 84%~ chance of having at least 1 starter in your hand with your first 5 cards if you play this Blue-Eyes 60 card deck list (18 Starters). Meanwhile in a 40 card deck, you'll have 91%~ chance of a starter in your hand (15 Starters: 3 Sage, 3 Wishes, 3 Maiden, 3 Kaiser, and 3 Map). So, it is just 7% difference between 60c vs 40c regarding having at least 1 starter in your hand. Of course, you have to survive the hand traps being thrown at you though, lol.
Replays
- Duels were marked if it had some unique gameplay to it: ideal end board scenario, surviving Nibiru, etc
- I experimented with ALOT of tech cards, so you will see cards being used not listed (i.e. Metaltronus)
